Aero-TV: The Farnborough Kestrel – All Carbon-Fibre Business Aircraft

Conceived as a new chapter in business aircraft, the Kestrel represents the application of advanced aerodynamics combined with state-of-the-art carbon-fibre composite construction. Developed by the British company, Farnborough Aircraft, the Kestrel made its first flight in July of 2006. Finally, at the Farnborough Air Show in 2008, the aircraft made its debut for European aviation enthusiasts. After Farnborough Aircraft came under new ownership at the beginning of 2009, the company has re-dedicated itself to seeking full certification of the Kestrel. Designed as a single engine turboprop business jet, the Kestrel merges speed, comfort, and operational flexibility unparalleled in the world of business and private jet aircraft. Due to its robust construction and heavy-duty undercarriage, the aircraft is capable of landing on the shortest of unprepared strips including sand, gravel, and grass. The 1000hp PT6 engine, however, allows the Kestrel to seamlessly integrate with the kind of jet traffic found at commercial airports. The aircraft sustains a climb rate at maximum weight of more than 3100 feet per minute and a maximum cruise speed above 350 knots. Able to travel distances up to 1500 nautical miles, the Kestrel is optimized to carry up to six passengers in luxury class comfort. Customers can choose from multiple cabin configurations including fitted private lavatory and pressurized luggage bay. The aircrafts luxury, however, does not translate to high operating costs

░░▒▓Gulfstream 450 business jet landing at Aspen Airport ▓▒░

This is a Gulfstream 450 business jet on a visual landing to Aspen, Colorado at night. The right half of the view is the pilot’s normal visual path to the runway during darkness—in other words….totally black except for a few lights bobbing around. The left side of the screen is the Forward Looking Infrared (FLIR) which paints the heat signature of the outside terrain for pilots so they can see at night as though it were daytime. FLIR Technology is a great addition to the cockpit of commercial as well to military aircraft. It enables a pilot to successfully land an aircraft at night under VFR (Visual Flight Rules) Left side – FLIR Landing system presentation. Right Side – View out of the cockpit. Voices of the pilot and tower operator are audible.

Business Jets @ CYSN—-October 2nd 2009

This was an unexpected arrival of not 1, but 2 business jets at St. Catharines Niagara District Airport (CYSN). I didn’t get the arrival of the Citation, infact I didn’t know it was there until I heard it taxiing on the ramp. When it left about 25-30 mins later, I caught it taxi out and hold short of runway 01. I just happened to turn around as I was filming, just in time to see a Learjet 55C leaving runway 24 as it taxied to the ramp. This video shows it taxi in and shut down. Seconds later, a Piper Aztec landed on the active 06 and taxied to private parking away from the ramp area. The Citation than departed on 06. Im not sure where the Citation went, but the pilot had a middle-eastern accent, and the aircraft’s registration was a bit unfamiliar to me, M-MHMH. I just happened to have my camera on me at the time so I caught them in action. Enjoy!

Buying the Life – Private Jets

From the series Private Jets

Cockpit View of Foggy Landing by Private Jet

Incredible footage from the cockpit of a Cessa 550B Citation Bravo Private Jet (Registration : D-CHZF) on approach to runway 17 at Cork Airport, Ireland. Visibility was quite poor at the time as you can see in the footage. The approach landing lights only appear out of the cloud a few seconds before touchdown. The approach up to that point was an ILS instrument approach. This private charter flight originated in Stuttgart, Germany which is the home base of this aircraft which is operated by Stuttgarter Flugdienst GmbH. This aircraft was manufactured in 1999 and can carry 7 passengers. It’s range is 1860 nautical miles with an average cruising speed of 461mph. Addendum (10/02/2011) – Dedicated to the memory of those who lost their lives in a crash landing on approach to this same runway in fog on 10th February 2011 aboard a Manx2 flight from Belfast – “Ar dheis D go raibh a anam dlis”
